Oppenheimer Park, Politics, and Inappropriate Feminism harming the homeless?

Many of you are aware that BC Homeless was conceived in order to help the homeless get justice, get their voices heard.  BC Homeless also aims at public awareness.  The more the public is made aware of the crisis of the homeless the greater the chance action will be taken in order to alleviate the difficulties of the homeless.

Currently the public is witnessing the “Oppenheimer Tent City” issue. We are seeing hundreds of homeless living in tents.  The issue is so prevalent that practically every news media is reporting it.  Even the United Nations !!!

We read an UN representative raises concerns about Oppenheimer Park situation.  As such, it has become an international issue.  Secondly we see all levels of government making statements.  From the Federal government, to the Provincial government, to the Municipal government.

Is Melanie Mark aware of the Oppenheimer Park crisis?

In addition taxpayers expect the government to take this issue seriously and act.  Especially when taxpayers are paying about 150 000 dollars for each politician.

As such.  We are appalled that the MLA responsible for Oppenheimer Park is Melanie Mark. Where is Ms. Mark?   If everyone is reporting that Oppenheimer Park crisis is a serious issue, then why don’t we see Ms. Mark make an appearance?

United Nations are expressing concerns and demanding action how come Ms. Mark is not?  We are paying her 150 000 a year for what? Should that 150 000 go toward homeless women?  Ms. Mark gladly makes appearances at expensive dinners with faculty at SFU.  Is an expensive dinner with SFU faculty more important than making an appearance at Oppenheimer Park?

Let’s have a look at Spencer Chandra Herbert. He is an MLA for the West End of Vancouver.  Spencer Chandra Herbert makes appearances and helps the homeless get justice.

Spencer Chandra Herbert (right) was accompanied by West End tenants when he announced that the province was stopping landlords from raising rents by large amounts to catch up with neighbouring buildings.
Spencer Chandra Herbert (right) was accompanied by West End tenants when he announced that the province was stopping landlords from raising rents by large amounts to catch up with neighbouring buildings.

As we see that the MLA for the West End takes homelessness seriously.  And he is not even in a high-homeless neighbourhood.  Can you see the irony?

On the topic of Irony.  We find it very ironic and even egregious that the female leaders don’t even mention Ms. Mark.  It is almost a Twilight Zone story.  A tragic deception.

Is it corrupt feminism, or bad feminism that female leaders like Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson who belong to “homeless action networks” and have been on TV several times such as Global News, MAKE NO MENTION of Melanie Mark?  If a child in grade 5 is aware that governments have roles and responsibilities how come Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson are not aware of that fact?

Are we supposed to believe that Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson think that we live in a Banana Republic or a Third World country that does not have a government?  Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson have seen MLA’s in other neighbourhoods such as Mr. Spencer take action and seek justice for the homeless.

It appears to that Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson have a Symbiotic relations with Ms. Mark.  All of the support women in leadership roles, and we do also 100%.  However.  Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson don’t want to jeopardize the positions they have and share.  We hope you can see the many nuances of feminism?  The many shades of feminism?

This STRAND of feminism is rare.  It is harmful and dangerous.  Plus it is expensive.  Taxpayers are paying about 150 000 a year to Melanie Mark.  What are they paying for?  So she can enjoy expensive dinners with SFU events?

To conclude. Please join us in requesting that Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson apologize for making no mention of Ms. Mark.  At the very least. Let us ask Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson to contact Melanie Mark and demand she speaks out on the injustices that the homeless are suffering.

If Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson are honest then they will admit that the public will not take the issue of homeless seriously when they see that the MLA of that neighbourhood is not taking it seriously.  We are sure you can see that, but why can’t Fiona York, Wendy Peterson, and Gene Swanson see that?

Wendy Peterson wend.pedersen@gmail.com

Gene Swanson gene jean.swanson@gmail.com

And of course. Contact Melanie Mark who taxpayers pay about 150 000 a year and ask her why she is not taking action.  melanie.mark.mla@leg.bc.ca
